heART therapy

Shortly after starting this blog with photography, I was encouraged by some dear (and quite artistic) friends to try other forms of creative expression. Lo and behold, I discovered a part of me that I didn't even know existed. I started drawing with colored pencils and haven't been able to stop. I learned that art is great therapy. If I make sure I do something creative every day—and don't worry about how it turns out or if others will like it—I feel so much better! So now when I feel anxiety and depression making their presence known, I pull out the colored pencils, paint, beads, paper, yarn, fabric . . . and walk with my shadows to a more peaceful place.
