I had it all figured out. To help combat the shadows of depression and anxiety, I have to make sure I walk every day. How do I fit that in and still get my work done and help take care of the home and find time for some creativity every day? A schedule! Get up at 6, pray, eat breakfast, go to work at 7. Walk at 11, shower, lunch, back to work until 5. The rest of the day for home tasks and then a creative activity before calling it a day. And it works! I have plenty of time for everything when I follow this schedule.
So this morning a friend asked if I could walk at 8 instead of 11. My first thought: No, that won't fit the schedule. My second thought: But I've really wanted to walk with her and 11 doesn't work for her. My next thoughts: Keeping friendships alive is also a very important mental health therapy for me, I haven't seen her for a while, I enjoy spending time with her, it is a beautiful morning, the mosquitoes are finally almost gone, I can rearrange my schedule and still get done with work by 5 or 6.
So we walked together and it was delightful and I am full of energy and ready to greet what the rest of the day has in store for me. And I got to enjoy these pre-Autumn colors.
